shared read

We held our annual Travelling Books book fair after school on Monday & Wednesday, and managed to sell a total of over £400 worth of books, earning us books for class book corners worth over £200. On Tuesday we held our popular 'Big House Read', where children enjoyed the chance to share books with both younger and older pupils within their houses. On Wednesday we had 'Favourite Books Day', when children were keen to share their favourite books from both home & school and take part in a variety of activities based on these, including book reviews. On Thursday we had an inter-house Book Quiz, involving teams of children from Reception to Y6 in fierce but friendly competition, whilst on Friday we are held a 'Pre-loved Book Sale', giving children the chance to buy nearly-new books at bargain prices! Thank you so much to all the parents who supported us with all these activities - we hope your children really enjoyed the week and have a renewed enthusiasm for books.

We held our Harvest Assembly at Gretton Church - it was lovely with the children singing, reading poems, prayers and psalms. Thank you to the parents who were able to attend – we hope you enjoyed it! Thank you to all parents who also contributed food items – we delivered boxes to residents in Gretton and the rest of the food went to the local Food Bank.

Nellie was very well behaved for her first official visit to school on Wednesday. Mrs. Jones talked to the children during assembly about how we can make Nel feel welcome as well as acting responsibly when she is in school. She spent her first afternoon in Kingfishers and was perfectly behaved! The children loved having her around and she soon became part of the furniture!
