Welcome from the Headteacher

R Woolstone

Welcome to Gretton Primary School; set in the centre of the village of Gretton - a thriving community with its own parish church, council, village hall and playing fields. There has been a school in Gretton since 1862; it was originally housed in the village hall but with the help and generosity of Emma Dent of Sudeley Castle, who gave land and a sum of money, the present building was erected in 1892.

We can take a maximum of 15 children in each year group and our pupils come from Gretton and the surrounding local area. We have four mixed age classes; Robins - Reception, Kingfishers- Years 1 and 2, Owls - Years 3 and 4 and Eagles - Years 5 and 6.

At Gretton everyone is committed to creating an enjoyable, enriched, purposeful and disciplined learning environment where all members of the school community can achieve their full potential. As well as striving for academic excellence we place a high emphasis on the personal, social and emotional development of our children and as such provide a warm, caring environment where children feel secure and happy. Outdoor learning, the Arts and sport are also really important to us.

Everyone at Gretton believes that for a child’s education to be successful there must be a partnership between home and school; we warmly welcome and encourage parents to become involved in their child’s learning as well as in all other school activities.

I hope this website, a paper copy of which is available on request, gives you a small taste of the wonderful things that go on at Gretton but please do make an appointment to visit and experience our school in action first hand.
