Toast pizza, painting and gym

Robins have been making toast pizza, counting the number of toppings as part of their maths work-the classroom smelt delicious. Hugo brought in an artist box that he was given for his birthday and inspired many of the Robins to have a go at water colour painting. In gym they learnt about balances and some of the children were able to balance on their hands without touching the floor with any other part of their body-Mrs Netting is still working on it!

Class assembly

This week we have been learning a song about good behaviour with our Big Friends which we performed in our class assembly as well as reading out our ideas about how we use our hands. Miss Ballinger taught us different rolls in gym including log rolls, tucked rolls and forward rolls.

Forest School

Robins enjoyed spending an afternoon at Forest School with Year 1s learning to tie knots on Wednesday. They have also begun their new topic ‘Off we go’ travelling to space in a rocket tent in the book corner and climbing aboard a train in the role-play area. During PE this term a gym instructor from School Sports Network will be teaching Robins. This week Miss Ballinger taught us body shapes and how to use them in jumps and turns. She was impressed with how hard the children worked.

Fairytale dress up day

Robins had such a busy term leading up to Christmas. They had a brilliant trip to The Roses Theatre to see 'Robin Hood' which had us laughing, singing and booing along. We also enjoyed our final Forest School session toasting marshmallows as well as performing our star dance in the Christmas concert. We rounded off our 'Once upon a time' topic with a fancy dress day. The children looked brilliant in their fairytale costumes and we had fun guessing which characters everyone was dressed as.
