Friends Of Gretton School, or FOGS, is the official name for our schools PTA (Parent Teacher Association). We are a registered charity, run by an elected committee of volunteers. Our aim is to organise fun events and raise funds, in order to enhance and enrich school life for all pupils. By doing this we also hope to encourage closer links between parents, staff and pupils, building a strong sense of school community.

How is FOGS organised?

All parents/carers and teachers are automatically members of FOGS, but we are run by an elected committee of parents with one teacher representative. Our Annual General Meeting is held at the start of the school year in September. At this meeting a committee is elected to run the PTA – which consists of a chair, a vice-chair, a treasurer, a secretary and ordinary committee members.  We then meet once every half term to organise events and discuss how the money raised should be spent.

The Committee recently elected consists of:

Chair - Zoe Howell (Mum to Jesse in Eagles and Bonny in Kingfishers)

Co-Vice Chair - Beth Wycherley (Mum to Rowan in Kingfishers)

Co-Vice Chair - Abigail Holland (Mum to Stanley in Kingfishers)

Secretary - Mel Riley (Mum to Erin in Kingfishers)

Treasurer - Lesley Warmington (Mum to Jasper in Kingfishers)

How are funds raised?

FOGS organise various fun events throughout the school year. Popular events include after school Discos, movie nights and bingo nights, as well as the Christmas Fair and bake sales. We are always looking for new fundraising ideas, so suggestions are welcome!

How are funds spent?

As the funds raised by FOGS are in addition to the official school budget, we hold a committee meeting to decide how best to spend the funds. Decisions are based on our charitable aims - to enhance school life for all pupils by making learning as interesting, accessible and enjoyable as possible.

 How can I be involved?

We all lead such busy lives, but every little really does help! You can donate time, money, raffle prizes, knowledge, advice, offers of services and skills. As we are a registered charity, we are also able to raise funds through Gift Aid and company matched giving schemes.

Extra hands to help out at events, either on the day or behind the scenes, are invaluable, but what we need most is your enthusiasm and support! So please bring your children, family and friends to support the events organised - you really will make a difference to Gretton School, creating happy memories for you and your child and leaving a legacy for those that follow.
