No Pens Wednesday

We were very proud of Owls’ efforts in their class assembly this week despite some mishaps with the microphone! In class, No Pens Wednesday proved to be hit and it was interesting to focus on the children’s language and communication skills. We played the game ‘Taboo’ where children had to explain an object without using certain key words which challenged our lateral thinking skills and we also learnt about the importance of listening carefully to others’ questions and the responses when playing 20 questions. For a Mathematical activity the children completed tarsias (domino style puzzles) related to converting units of time. It was good to hear lots of good mathematical talk and discussion. In the afternoons we have been working on Stone Age e-books, thinking about the structure, content and presentation.
